CANTON, CT (WFSB) - Police in Canton are urging safety when it comes to e-bikes.

The police department told us that there have been several incidents in town recently – and officers want to make sure everyone is following the law when riding these bikes.

“Both on the trails and in the neighborhoods we have a ton of kids that are on bikes that they really can’t control,” said Michael Szykowny of Avon.

There’s been an increase in accidents in Canton involving electric bikes over the last few months.

The Canton Police Department is now reminding everyone to be safe while riding e-bikes.

This includes following the rules of the road like stopping at stop signs and red lights.

The helmet laws for e-bikes are different than the laws for motorcycles or even regular bikes. The Canton Police
