Fargo summer camp teaches children to carve, ink and print their own designs

FARGO — Youth in Fargo are flexing their creative sides to learn the art of printmaking.

The Plains Art Museum is hosting a weeklong “Carve It, Ink It, Print It” summer camp this week.

Students drew images they wanted to print before carving them into both Styrofoam and soft-cut blocks, then used colored ink to print their designs on paper.

Students will bring their designs home at the end of camp, allowing them to print images at home.

Camp staff say the students learn quickly and always end up being proud of what they have created.

“By the end of the week, they’re confident enough to get the materials, create an image, and then just go right into printing, and they’re excited to show you, and they’re excited they want to take them home and show their families,” said Anna Jacobson, d
