BOISE, Idaho — Redshirt junior Maddux Madsen has joined an exclusive list of Boise State quarterbacks to ever earn a spot on the Manning Award Watch List.

The Allstate Sugar Bowl on Thursday named Madsen as one of 27 signal-callers on its preseason watch list for the award, which is presented annually to the top quarterback in college football.

Madsen is the first Bronco to land on the list since Brett Rypien. The current Minnesota Vikings quarterback appeared on the Manning Award preseason watch list three times (2016-18) during his days in Boise.

Kellen Moore is the only other Boise State quarterback to receive the honor prior to a season opener. Moore was a three-time finalist for the award (2009-2011) before his climb through the NFL ranks to becoming the New Orleans Saints he
