INDIANAPOLIS — A bipartisan group of lawmakers kicked off a series of discussions on Thursday surrounding AI at the Indiana Statehouse.

Over the next few weeks, the AI Task Force will debate the pros and cons of AI and whether the state should tighten regulations, specifically surrounding K-12 education, higher education and the workforce.

“I’d like to see some data around … how many factories with manufacturing have gone to a lower workforce purely because of AI?” said State Rep. Matt Lehman (R-Berne), the AI Task Force Co-Chair. ”One of my concerns long-term is what’s going to be the impact of AI on manufacturing.”
