JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WLOX) - A new medical initiative was unveiled in Jackson County on Thursday morning, as Singing River Health Systems cut the ribbon on its new Healthcare Academy. This is home to the state’s first medical apprenticeship program.

“When you get into a hospital and do patient care, there’s a fear. You have to get over that fear,” said Richr’D Moore, a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Instructor. “What we can do here is train you to get over that fear before you go out and take care of a patient. Once you spread your wings there, you’re able to graduate, get your certification, and you’re off working doing the things you were already doing before.”
