Gordon ISD students walked back into classrooms for the first day of the new school year, and that alone is a major accomplishment.

On May 18, Gordon, located about 60 miles west of Fort Worth in Palo Pinto County, took a direct hit from an EF-1 tornado .

The storm tore through homes and the city’s school, leaving classrooms with water and wind damage. Most of the school’s sports facilities were damaged or destroyed.
