This letter addresses recent news about huge AI centers being proposed locally and elsewhere in the state.

I propose that townships make two requirements for approving these huge users of electricity and land. One: All buildings should be required to cover as much rooftop as possible with solar panels, so that they manufacture at least a portion of the electricity needed for their operations.

Two: Since the building footprint of these large structures will remove large swaths of habitat for a functioning local ecosystem and create stormwater issues, they should be required to landscape the remaining property with native trees, shrubs, and perennials that would help counteract both issues.

Enforce some responsibility for the problems they will create.
