SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Sarno Family Park at the Springfield Boys and Girls Club is the start of many more projects to invest in the next generation.

"As of today, this outdoor campus will be known as Sarno Family Park at the Springfield Boys and Girls Club," said Vinny Borello, Executive Director of the Springfield Boys and Girls Club.

In 1948, the Sarno family immigrated to Springfield from Italy. The parents of Mayor Domenic Sarno were barbers and tailors who gave back to a city they fell in love with. Their son followed in their footsteps and became the longest-serving mayor in Springfield.
