Rumors of rats, mice found in Peoria Popeyes grease dispelled

PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - Thursday morning, the Peoria City/County Health Department debunked misinformation aimed toward a local Popeyes restaurant.

The rumor originated from a Facebook user, who claimed that the Peoria Popeyes location on Knoxville Avenue had undergone a health inspection, during which inspectors, “found a rat and two mice in the grease.” As of 2:30 p.m. Thursday, that post had more than 100 shares.

This prompted leaders with the county’s health department to dismiss the claim publicly on the organization’s Facebook page.
