GIBSON CITY ( 25News Now ) - A Gibson City police officer and Ford County sheriff’s deputy are on the mend after a shooting nearly a week ago .

The shooting took place around 2:30 a.m. Aug. 9. Illinois State Police said the two law enforcement officers were called to the 100 block of Ash Street in Gibson City for a report of a naked man.

State Police said the officer and deputy were hit by gunfire attempting to make contact with the man, identified as 70-year-old David Jordan, at his home.

The deputy, a six-year veteran of the sheriff’s office, was shot in the left knee and arm. The officer, on the force for a year, was shot in the left hip.
