Ferguslie Community Council in Paisley has fallen because of a lack of members after four people – including the group's chair – quit earlier this year. ‌

The resignations left the body with fewer than the minimum threshold of seven and meant an interim election would be required if it was to continue. ‌

However, Renfrewshire Council has said it wrote to those remaining on two occasions, asking if they wanted this to be facilitated, but received no response. ‌

Terry McTernan, who left after taking aim at the local authority and its administration on social media, said: "I think it is a big loss in the sense that the council no longer has an actual truly representative community body in order to continue that engagement.
