When a city department manager stepped to the podium Aug. 11 to talk about a project priced at $350,000, the mayor and one council member smiled.
Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke asked if “The Pigeon Guy” was actually in the room to talk about a contract to keep bird feces off of some downtown city buildings.
“I think you (Council member Angel Encinas) called this in, just to see what a guy with than moniker looks like,” Hartke joked.
It’s easy to see why it might be tough to be serious about bird droppings. It’s also easy to see why Encinas and one other council member were more serious about the price tag.
