A North Andover police officer appeared virtually over Zoom in court on Thursday to challenge a judge’s ruling that she is too dangerous to be let out on bail .

Kelsey Fitzsimmons, 28, a member of the North Andover Police Department, was shot in June by a fellow member of her police department who claimed she pointed a gun at him while serving a restraining order obtained by Fitzsimmons’ fiancée.

She is currently hospitalized in Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, but her defense attorney said she is a few days away from being physically eligible to be discharged.

A judge last week, however, ordered her held without bail under the state’s dangerousness law at her arraignment. Fitzsimmons is challenging the judge’s ruling in an attempt to fight for custody of her 7-month-old ba
