A former Michigan man accused of sexually assaulting a child in 2008 has been bound over for trial in Hillsdale County on six felony counts, officials announced Thursday.
James Carter, 62, who resides in Lawrenceville, Georgia, but formerly lived in Prescott, in Ogemaw County, Michigan, faces four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of accosting a child for immoral purposes, said Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel.
The case is part of Operation Survivor Justice, a partnership between the Michigan Attorney General's Office, local county prosecutors and the U.S. Marshals Service, which aims to locate and apprehend Michigan fugitives with outstanding sexual assault warrants and return them to Michigan to face justice.
