Minneapolis – Will Vest had been the Tigers’ de facto closer and he was excelling in the role.

In his first 39 outings, he saved 15 games, blown three, and had a 2.14 ERA with 48 strikeouts in 42 innings for a Tigers team that had the best record in baseball.

A couple of weeks later, the Tigers acquired Kyle Finnegan. What had been Vest's alone was suddenly a shared venture. So, how do you suppose Vest reacted to that development?

Like a pro.

“I was pumped,” he said. “You have to have a good bullpen to win in October. We made a lot of pitching decisions, which is awesome, to bolster the whole pitching staff. And that’s going to be really good for us down the stretch.”
