(WFRV) - The Wisconsin Department of Justice and Attorney General Josh Kaul provided a release on Thursday to continue raising awareness on Missing Child Alerts over a year since they were announced.

The Department of Justice initially launched the Missing Child Alert in April 2024 after Governor Tony Evers signed 2023 Wisconsin Act 272 (also known as the Prince Act).

The Prince Act, named for missing 5-year-old Prince McCree, who went missing in Milwaukee and 10-year-old Lily Peters, who was missing from Chippewa Falls, expanded criteria for issuing alerts.

Missing Child Alerts are designed to alert the public to help find missing kids under a specific set of guidelines. The first one was officially sent in August 2024, with 17 having been sent for 14 children, ages 4-17 years old.
