SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT — An approximate 6-foot stainless steel globe featuring metal cutouts shaped to represent continents is new to the Little League World Series complex this year.
More than 70 Pennsylvania College of Technology students in Michael R. Allen’s welding blueprint and layout classes made the globe throughout the spring semester using round stock and stainless steel.
“This is probably one of the most unique projects we’ve done. It makes me feel good that our students did it for the public,” he said.
The globe is at the back of Volunteer Stadium in the world series complex in South Williamsport.
