INDIANAPOLIS — The Marion County Coroner's Office is no stranger to tough cases. But every year, one county official takes on a very different challenge for two weeks in a setting you might not expect.

"This job is very heavy," Marion County Coroner Alfie McGinty told 13News previously. "Dealing with death on a regular basis, sometimes I have to pull my staff and just say, 'You know, you need to take some time.'"

For McGinty, death is part of the job.

"We are coming in contact with people who are encountering the worst day of their life," she said.

But step away from her office, and you'll find her in a very different role. For two weeks out of the year, McGinty trades a lab coat for an apron and case files for turkey legs.
