GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - A Greenville man has pleaded guilty to a murder that happened in March of 2022 and has been sentenced to 25 to 32 years behind bars.

The Pitt County District Attorney says David Tarrant pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon in the death of William Rushing.

Rushing’s body had been found lying between buildings in Vancroft Circle in southern Greenville. An autopsy determined he died from blunt force trauma to the head.

Tarrant’s arrest came two years after the murder. Authorities say his plea came three and a half days after hearing evidence in his trial.
