PENOBSCOT COUNTY, Maine — Seboeis has been named as the hardest-to-pronounce town of Maine by Mental Floss , a digital magazine.
Pronounced "Seh-BOW-iss," the town in Penobscot County has a population of around 40, according to the 2020 census.
The magazine published a map Tuesday of towns in every state that Americans find the most difficult to pronounce. This is based off a study by language learning website Preply.
Other towns on the map include Zzyzx in California, Schenectady in New York, and Nunathloogagamiutbingoi Dunes in Alaska.
