FAIRLEA, WV (WVNS) - The Best New Fair Food competition was held Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at the 100th State Fair of West Virginia, and the blue ribbon was awarded to a first-time entrant in the category!

The Blue Ribbon Kettle Corn stand, run by the Shires family from Alderson, has been coming to the state fair for 23 years, but this was their first time ever participating in the Best New Fair Food contest.

They entered their brand new Strawberries and Cream Lemonade, which has been a huge hit with guests at the fair all week long!

They are a family business from Greenbrier County, and the creator of the Strawberries and Cream Lemonade, Haylee Shires, said their high quality ingredients are what separates their lemonade from the rest.
