OMAHA, Neb. —

In Commitment 2026 news, congressional candidate John Cavanaugh was making his case to voters on Thursday afternoon.

The Democrat held a town hall near 44th and Frances streets.

Cavanaugh was joined by former Social Security Administrator Martin O'Malley, who spoke about potential cuts to Social Security.

Cavanaugh said he'll hold President Trump accountable.

"Social Security is a model for success in our federal government. It shows you over 90 years that the government can provide an essential service, effectively and efficiently," Cavanaugh said.

Cavanaugh is one of seven candidates running for Nebraska's District 2 seat, including fellow Democrats Evangelos Argyrakis, Kishla Askins, Denise Powell and Crystal Rhoades as well as Republicans Brett Lindstrom and Brinker
