WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The Irmo Little League All-Star s scored plenty of runs--and allowed none--to make an impressive debut in Little League World Series Thursday afternoon.
The Irmo team--known in this tournament as Southeast--defeated the team from the Northeast 13-0 in just four innings. Little League World Series games are six innings, but the game was called early because of the mercy rule.
Irmo was up 4-0 in the bottom of the second inning with bases loaded when Joe Giulietti hit a rocket to left center field to clear the bases and blow the game open.
Irmo would go on to add five more runs against the Northeast team, which is from Braintree, Massachusetts.
Irmo will now play in the winners bracket against the winner of the Northwest region and the Mountain region on Monday at 3p
