SMITH COUNTY, Texas (KETK)-- Bella, a member of the Smith County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit, will be receiving a bullet and stab protective vest, following a generous donation from a nonprofit that strives to provide protection for K-9 units all over the United States.
The sheriff's office received the vest from the Vested Interest in K-9s, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing protective vests to K-9 units nationwide. The nonprofit was founded in 2009, and since its inception, it has provided over 6,225 vests to K-9 units across the country.
Bella's new vest is expected to be delivered in ten weeks, and like all Vested Interest products, it will weigh four to five pounds and comes with a five-year warranty.
