TYLER, Texas (KETK) - Chapel Hill ISD students went back to the classroom on Thursday in a brand new Junior High School. The building is now home to the district's 7th and 8th graders.
Money for the school came from the 2023 bond that gave the district millions of dollars toward better campuses. According to the district website, the estimated cost of the new campus was more than $60,000,000 and the bond total was $113.9 million.
“The district is just beaming with excitement, this is a big deal for our district and the community as well. They haven’t had a new building in many years. The students as they walk in are just in awe,” communication director for Chapel Hill ISD Elissa Thompson said.
