CLEVELAND — Nearly a dozen carjackings have been reported in Ohio City over the past 30 days, according to data from Cleveland’s public safety portal.

The city’s online crime map shows several incidents spread across the neighborhood, highlighting areas with increased criminal activity. While Cleveland police have not yet released detailed incident reports, city officials are taking steps to boost public safety — particularly in parking structures.

Cleveland City Council recently approved new lighting requirements for all public garages. Under the updated rules, garages must meet higher illumination standards across walking surfaces, stairwells and landings. The goal, officials say, is to deter crime and improve visibility.
