In Alaska, Lieutenant Governor Nancy Dahlstrom has certified a statewide initiative proposing the regulated use of certain natural medicines for therapeutic and traditional purposes.

The initiative, titled “25ANMA,” would allow adults 21 and older to access, cultivate, and use substances such as psilocybin, DMT, mescaline—excluding peyote—and ibogaine. It also protects traditional and indigenous uses of these medicines.

If approved by voters, the proposal would create a Natural Medicine Control Board to oversee licensing, regulation, and public education, and a Traditional Use Council to support cultural and spiritual practices.
