MANCHESTER, N.H. —
New tariffs could mean higher prices on everything from gadgets to groceries, leaving shoppers wondering whether to buy now or risk paying more later.
A June BudgetLab report from Yale University estimates that tariffs could cost families about $2,000 this year.
To help consumers navigate potential price spikes, Consumer Reports offers tips on how to save.
"Don't wait to buy items you already planned to purchase. If you need a laptop and got the money for it and the price has held steady, it makes a lot of sense to buy it now," said Chris Raymond of Consumer Reports.
Shoppers can also save by choosing older models.
TVs, laptops and smartphones from the previous year often remain available even after new models arrive.
