AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Texas women's basketball team slid past host Canada 70-61 on Thursday in the GLOBL Jam, moving to 2-0 in the tournament at the Mattamy Athletic Center in Toronto.
Madison Booker poured in a game-high 18 points on 6-for-13 shooting with eight rebounds and six assists to lead the Longhorns. Freshman Aaliyah Crump chipped in 13 points and Teya Sidberry scored 10 with a team-high eight rebounds. Rori Harmon dished out eight assists.
Texas, representing the United States in the international tournament, led 24-16 after the first quarter, but the Canadians hung tough and played the Longhorns even in the second frame 19-19. Texas shot 38% from the field and held Canada to 33%, including 3-for-19 from 3-point range.
