MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The Chennault Aviation and Military Museum opened it’s next exhibit commemorating the China Burma India theater in which General Claire Chennault led the Flying Tigers.
General Chennault’s granddaughter and the museum’s director, Nell Calloway says it is important not to forget this crucial part of the ally victory.
“This exhibit just reminds us it is the last war 80 years ago that the United States has ever won, and we celebrated that victory with the Chinese,” Calloway said. “You know, China and the United States are number one and number two superpowers today. So I feel like it’s so important that we understand the history that we had during that terrible time and that if we had not been successful during that time, we may be speaking Japanese or German today. ”
