BOISE, Idaho — Idaho health officials confirmed a second case of measles in an Idaho resident Thursday, less than a week after the first case.
The Eastern Idaho Public Health (EIPH) reported that the confirmed infection was in an unvaccinated child in Bonneville County, marking the first case in an Idaho resident in Eastern Idaho since 1991.
Health officials said this case is linked to a confirmed measles case involving an international traveler . The child developed symptoms after coming into contact with the international traveler.
"At this time, the cases are self-isolating," health officials wrote in a news release. "EIPH anticipated that contacts in this household had the potential to become infected, but EIPH is not aware of potential exposure to the public from these cases.
