BOISE, Idaho — The former Gooding Fire District chief is scheduled to appear in court in September to enter a plea as he is accused of 14 felony counts of misuse of public money by a public officer.
Court documents obtained by KTVB show Brandon Covey was arraigned last month after being charged in March by the Idaho Attorney General's Office.
According to court records, Covey allegedly used a fire department card or account number to purchase more than $2,000 worth of alcohol between December 2021 and December 2022 - none of which was for the fire department. The complaint alleges he did this 12 times during that period.
The criminal complaint also accuses Covey of "causing the purchase" of two shipping containers from the State of Idaho Federal Surplus Property Program for $1,000, whic
