HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Grand Island Senior High football is navigating plenty of offseason changes, starting at the top.
Former head coach Creighton Reed stepped down earlier this year. Now, it is up to Jeff McQuinn to lead the Islanders in 2025.
McQuinn has spent the past 10 years at GISH as an assistant coach. The team also lost the production of running back Nelsyn Wheeler, who transferred to Millard South. Despite the changes, McQuinn said he feels confident in his coaching staff.
“There’s always nervousness, whether you’re the head coach or not,” McQuinn said. “I’m in a good place right now because I’ve got the right guys in the right spots. We’ve got a lot of people coming back, and having those coaches here, that have been here and done it, makes me have a little more comfort.
