LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Lincoln East has qualified for the NSAA playoffs in each of the past seven seasons. The Spartans believe they can keep the streak going this fall.
Lincoln East has a stout defense with a pair of talented pass rushers in Elijah Gutz and Parker Johnson. Gutz ranked second in the state last fall with 11 sacks.
Offensively, returning starting quarterback Ryan Manning is being challenged during the preseason by sophomore Turner Wilke. Veteran head coach John Gingery said both signal callers are strong options.
Lincoln East hopes to improve on last season’s 5-5 record. Players say they’ve noticed improvement at every position, including running back where Kyle Campbell enters his junior season.
Lincoln East begins the season on Thursday, August 28th at Elkhorn South.
