FAIRFIELD, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Big Changes are coming for Fairfield’s one and only grocery store.
Carver Jones Market exists in what was previously a food desert; that means there is a lack of healthy grocery options.
Rumors have been swirling that the city is about to lose its only grocery store, the first one to open in nearly 10 years.
While it is true Carver Jones Market is closing, the building will not remain empty.
“I probably have learned more about grocery store business than I probably wanted to – I’m a pastor not a grocery guy,” said Senior Pastor Alton Hardy of Urban Hope Community Church.
The church leader tells WBRC Urban Hope Community Church owns the building the store occupies.
