TOWN OF BRISTOL, Wis. (WMTV) - Hundreds of Dane County residents were billed for work they never asked for — and last month, 15 Investigates found a state report showing the Dane County Drainage board violated the law in the process. Now, residents will have more time to pay the bill.
On Thursday, the Dane County Drainage Board held a new public hearing for Drainage District 27, after the Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (DATCP) found the board failed to notify all landowners about the first hearing.
The drainage board voted to reaffirm the assessment, explaining that the work had already been completed, and that the money collected will also be used to pay for their attorney’s fees and future projects.
However, the deadline will be extended until December 31,
