An urgent search has been launched after a car crashed into a 13-year-old girl in a hit-and-run incident in Hamilton .

The incident happened shortly after 4pm on Thursday, August 14, on Laighstonehall Road in the Lanarkshire town.

Thankfully, the girl did not require hospital treatment.

Police say the driver did not stop at the scene and a search is underway to hunt them down.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.10pm on Thursday, 14 August, 2025, we received a report of a crash involving a car and a 13-year-old female pedestrian which took place around 4.15pm on Laighstonehall Road, Hamilton.

“The pedestrian did not require hospital treatment.

“The driver did not stop at the scene, and enquiries are ongoing to trace them.”
