A TRAVEL revolution is set to hit this August as the fastest-ever train from NYC to Washington D.C. is set to be introduced.

Travelers will be able to step foot on America's fastest ever train on August 28, Amtrak has announced.

The new NextGen Acela will connect the Northeast Corridor between Washington D.C., New York City and Boston along 457 miles of track.

The impressive new fleet of trains was assembled by rail giant Alstom in Hornell, NY ushering in a new era of high-speed rail.

Amtrak President, Roger Harris, said: "NextGen Acela is more than a new train—it’s an evolution of travel.

“In just a few weeks, history will be made with the debut of NextGen Acela as we launch a new standard for American train travel.”
