ST PAUL, Minn. — Senior residents in St. Paul evacuated their apartments Friday morning as fire crews battled flames that left one person dead.
The senior living community is located on the 900 block of Como Boulevard East. Fire crews arrived at the scene around 3:45 a.m. and went door-to-door telling residents to evacuate, which wasn't a simple task, considering some people needed mobility aids, according to authorities.
In a press release, St. Paul Fire crews said the fire was located in a first-floor apartment unit. When crews entered, they recovered a body.
No residents were displaced as a result of the fire. St. Paul Fire crews and the Minnesota State Fire Marshal are working to find the cause of the fire.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner will release the identity of the victim
