Wasps are a common irritant in the summer months but experts have warned that a surge in the number of so-called 'murder wasps' are set to plague households and gardens from now. And householders have been urged to keep windows firmly closed until the end of August to keep them out of their homes.
Set to land in their thousands, they will become a common sight across the country until the end of the month as pest control companies say they are seeing a big increase in calls to rid gardens and homes of them. In June pest controllers saw six times more calls relating to wasps than in the year before.
And they could find themselves busier than ever this year as a warm and wet summer weather so far has provided the ultimate conditions for the stinging insects to thriv
