LARAMIE — Hailey Uhre and Marina Trave understand they could be part of a major first.
Each year, it seems, the University of Wyoming women’s cross-country squad inches closer toward its first NCAA championships qualification.
Many Cowgirls throughout program history qualified for nationals as individuals, but never as a team.
The 2025 Cowgirls want to change that.
“I think we get closer every year that we are here,” said Uhre, a senior. “We are biting at the bit to get in.”
The Cowgirls cruise into a new campaign with a new-look roster after three of their top seven at the NCAA Mountain Regional graduated. It all starts at 9 a.m. Aug. 30 at the Wyoming Invite in Cheyenne.
Uhre, Trave, Madelyn Blazo and Eowyn Dalbec are expected to lead the squad as its returning starters.
