Five people are now under ICE custody after a traffic stop in Apopka on Friday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said they began conducting a traffic stop after a vehicle ran a stop sign

in the area of W Martin Street and Vick Road.

According to FHP, the driver stopped the vehicle, and four passengers exited and fled from the troopers.

As a precaution, the Apopka Police Department said Apopka High School was placed on hold since the incident happened near the campus.

Police officers secured the perimeter until it was confirmed that all occupants had been found.

Five people were detained and taken into ICE custody, according to police.

The hold has since been lifted at Apopka High School, and normal operations have resumed, school district officials said.
