EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Michigan State University (MSU) is holding the first Ralph Votapek International Young Artist Piano competition.

The competition is open to teens ages 14 to 18 around the world.

This year, ten young musicians are competing: seven from the United States, two from Canada, and one from China.

The public is invited to attend the performances, which begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday and continue at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Each competitor will have 30 minutes to perform on the first day. Those who advance to the finals will be given a full hour.

Eric Zuber, a judge in the competition, said these pianists work hard and they deserve to be recognized.
