Crews tackle vehicle fire at Family Express

KINGSBURY — A local Family Express convenience store escaped damage Thursday night when a nearby vehicle caught fire, according to the Kingsbury Volunteer Fire Department.

The fully-involved vehicle fire occurred adjacent to the building at U.S. 35 and County Road 400 South in LaPorte County, firefighters said.

"Fortunately no one was injured and the building, while very close to the fire, did not become involved," officials said.

The LaPorte County Sheriff's Department assisted at the scene.
