LOUISVILLE, Ky. ( WAVE /Gray News) - The family of a woman who was shot and killed while walking her daughter to her bus stop in Kentucky is asking the Louisville community to come together to end gun violence.
On Thursday morning, the family of 23-year-old Redaja Williams joined city and community leaders for a press conference to demand change in Louisville’s neighborhoods.
“You can’t even go to the grocery store without somebody wanting to shoot you, or rob you, or carjack you,” Williams’ grandfather, Bruce Simmons, said. “It’s got to stop somewhere.”
Police, city officials and family members said Williams was shot and killed while walking her child to a bus stop near 10th Street and Chestnut Street on Wednesday morning.
