A supermarket with branches across London is urgently recalling a ready meal that contains undeclared shellfish. The Ultimate Keralan Chicken Curry has been pulled from Farmfoods' shelves due to the mistaken presence of prawns.

An error made during production means the microwave meal now poses a life-threatening risk to anyone with allergies or intolerances. Ingesting even a small piece of shellfish, including crabs, lobsters and shrimp, can lead to itchy skin, swollen lips, wheezing, nausea, vomiting, dizziness and a tight feeling in the throat.

In serious cases, an allergy sufferer may fall into serious anaphylactic shock, suffer organ damage and potentially die. Farmfoods says the recall applies to the 400g pack size with batch number L550.
