A charity providing healthy groceries in a South London 'food desert' is celebrating after securing its future for the next four years. The Paxton Pantry, in West Dulwich, has been granted almost £137,500 by the City Bridge Foundation, allowing staff to provide weekly shopping baskets to those experiencing poverty without the pressure of fundraising.

Based within the Kingswood Estate, the service offers food and toiletries worth around £35 in exchange for a small donation. Alison Paule, the director of Paxton Green Time Bank, which runs the scheme, said the cash injection means her team can continue making a significant difference.
