BOISE, Idaho — Summer is coming to a close in the City of Trees as school returns and a seasonal announcement signals the end of boating season on the popular Lucky Peak Lake.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers this week announced it will begin gradually lowering the water level of Lucky Peak Reservoir alongside the Bureau of Reclamation on Monday, Aug. 18.

Recreationalists are urged to use extreme caution as boat ramp elevations change with the decreasing water levels. Officials said the drawdown, which is happening at a "historically typical time," will ultimately impact access recreation access.

Lucky Peak Reservoir is expected to reach a winter pool elevation of around 2,945 feet in the coming weeks.
