WALHALLA, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Oconee County Coroner’s Office reports a Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office captain died after in a crash in Walhalla on Thursday.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol said a motorcyclist was heading north on Highway 183 around 8:18 p.m. when they crossed the center line and hit an SUV head-on.
The motorcyclist passed away at the scene from multiple blunt force injuries and the driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital by EMS.
The motorcyclist was identified as 49-year-old Steven Paul Henderson of Duncan. Officials said he was a captain with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office.
FOX Carolina has reached out to the sheriff’s office to get more information on Captain Henderson.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
