GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - New rules for public comment will be in place for the next Alachua County School Board meeting after a disruption at a prior meeting attracted the attention of state leaders.
Starting on Aug. 19, the date of the next school board meeting, public comment will be held at the beginning of each meeting. Members of the public may comment on anything, even if the topic isn’t related to an agenda item.
Commenters will be required to fill out a Speaker Request Form before the meeting begins if they wish to speak. The form can be filled out online up to 24 hours before the meeting, or in person shortly before the meeting begins.
Members of the public will have two minutes to address items not on the agenda and two minutes per item on the consent agenda.
